:  a cellular inclusion in a red blood cell that consists of damaged aggregated hemoglobin and is associated with some forms of hemolytic anemia

Biographical Note for HEINZ BODY

Heinz, Robert (1865–1924), German physician. Heinz did research in dermatology and metallic colloids. In 1890 he described inclusions seen in red blood cells in some cases of hemolytic anemia. These characteristic inclusions are now known as Heinz bodies.
